I started playing this beautiful game in the parks of my native city Caracas, Venezuela. When I was 12 years old I had my free transfer to the US to follow my family’s dream to start a new life in a new country.

The last 12 months I have been able to attend, experience and interact with some of the most exhilarating football (soccer) ecosystems in the American continent. From Toronto’s CN Tower, to Montevideo’s Punta del Este, I present a 12 part mini-series titled :”Tactics and Didactics: Learnings from a tour of the Beautiful Game.”

I will be releasing posts on a weekly basis on topics like football’s influence on cultural and societal level and professional football player’s philosophies and methodologies.

The 12 part series will include:

1. Argentina

2. Brasil

3. Mexico

4. Colombia

5. Chile

6. Uruguay

7. Paraguay

8. Peru

9. Canada

10. USA (Academy)

11.USA (College)

12. USA (Professional)

This space is meant to give readers a grasp on my journey and it’s participants while adding factual and contextual content. Every step of the way provides a valuable lesson, regardless of the direction.

Sincerely, Erik Marquis.
